PANGEA has the intention to
breath an energetic pre human atmosphere, released from civilisation
fears, by using the latest music software and producing techniques.
Geert de Wilde started with
a sideproject of IC 434, called TEMESTA in 1998. TEMESTA, named after an
anxiolyticum (a medical drug that drives fears away, still a social taboo)
was a one man project, mainly without lyrics not especially meant for one
specific music scene. Some people described it as a mix of EBM and Goa
Trance. While IC 434 never uses other sound equipment than world's first
music workstation, the legendaric Korg M1, neither external effects nor
sequencers like Cubase, TEMESTA did not follow this principle but used
more modern synths and music software. This can for example be heard on Hypnotise,
a contribution on Belgian's DARK ENTRIES music magazine sampler Dark
Demons, The First Breed.

By the end of 2001, TEMESTA
has been renamed PANGEA, because a resident techno DJ from Café D'Anvers
(a well know dance hall in Antwerp) called TEMMESTA (double m!) already is
operating in Belgium. PANGEA is the name of the supercontinent on earth,
some 200 million years ago (which had a bit the shape of a foetus). Due to
geological processes, this continent was divided in the continents as we
know them now (Eurasia, Africa, Oceania, North America, South America,
Antarctica). Impressed by the PANGEA gig at the Belgian Independent Music
Festival 1 at the end of 2002, Guy Van Mieghem from VOMITO NEGRO asked
Geert de Wilde to join his band after the rupture with Gin Devo. Geert of
course accepted this proposal and Guy immediately started remixing the
PANGEA song Permafrost. It's a pity this remix hasn't been released
by now. In the meantime, the PANGEA versions of Permafrost were
released on the BREAKDOWN label as its first official CD by May 2003.
Just as TEMESTA, PANGEA is
no 'dark electro' at all, although dark, but deals with a mix of Goa
Trance, some EBM and industrial sounds, if you want any references.
